OCF Lead Competition

On Saturday January 21 2023, Joe Rockhead’s will host an OCF-sanctioned lead competition for the Youth A/Junior/Adult categories (born 2007 and earlier). Compete, volunteer, or come watch the action!

Please note that climbing will be closed to the public on the day of the event, and some walls will be closed on the day before to allow for routesetting. See below for a full list of disruptions.

WATCH LIVE

Spectators are welcome to attend for FREE. Doors for Finals open at 3:30pm, and climbing starts at 4:00pm. Or pop in early to see a bit of the qualification round, from 10:30am to 1:30pm.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are the backbone of competitive climbing, and helping out at a local comp is a great way to support your community and learn more about our growing industry.

Lead Belayers
We need 9 experienced lead belayers for the qualifying round in the morning (approx 10am to 1:30pm), and 4 in the late afternoon/evening (approx 3:30pm to 6pm) for finals. Belayers work in pairs to allow rest time and to prepare the next climber. Belayers are provided with lunch and light snack items, and will be gifted a free day pass at Joe Rockhead’s.

Belayers with competition experience are preferred, but competent leads belayers with a lead certification from at least 2 different GTA gyms will be considered. Email tyler@joerockheads.com to sign up to belay.

Event Volunteers
We need a handful of volunteers to manage competitor flow and maintain the Isolation Zone during finals. We need five volunteers in the late afternoon/evening (approx 2:30pm to 6pm) to manage finalists in the Isolation Zone and move competitors to the wall. Volunteers are provided with lunch and light snack items, and will be gifted a free day pass at Joe Rockhead’s.

No experience is necessary for these positions. Email tyler@joerockheads.com to sign up to volunteer.

Judges
Our event will also require plenty of judges, but these positions are organized by the OCF themselves. Learn more about judging for OCF events on the OCF’s Judging Pathway page. To sign up for judging, click here.
